Wylie ISD Educational Leaders Meet with President George W. Bush and Former First Lady Bush

Great things are already happening at George W. Bush Elementary! We’re inspired to have President George W. Bush as the namesake of our onsite elementary school in our community. Wylie ISD Superintendent Dr. David Vinson, George W. Bush Elementary’s Principal Dr. Maricela Helm and Wylie ISD’s Executive Director of Communications Mr. Ian Halperin had the opportunity to meet with President George W. Bush and Former First Lady Laura Bush.

“After visiting with President Bush, it is apparent why the naming committee selected such a strong and humble figure head for the new Wylie school.  Mr. Bush spent time talking to us like we were new friends.  He showed a genuine interest in the town, in the students, and asked about our teachers and our programs.  We made it clear that he and Mrs. Bush had an open invitation to come and see the amazing work and high levels of learning that will be taking place daily in the heart of the Inspiration community.” – Dr. Maricela Helm
