George W. Bush Elementary opened in Inspiration in August 2016. Children in Inspiration enjoy outstanding educational opportunities, award-winning extracurricular activities and learn “the Wylie Way,” a nationally recognized value and character program in the highly acclaimed Wylie School District.

Students at Bush Elementary have the opportunity to test into a dual-language program which allows them to learn their subjects in 50% Spanish and 50% English. The program is suited for both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers, as young as kinder age. Students who move into the school at a later grade also have the opportunity to test into the program if they have previously participated in a dual-language program.

For more than 100 years the Wylie Independent School District has emphasized academic excellence through outstanding educational opportunities and award-winning extracurricular activities, all based on community values. The Wylie ISD is focused on ensuring students are prepared for a lifetime of success through a world-class education.

All 19 Wylie ISD campuses have met the State’s highest academic standards, with more than half earning additional distinctions.

The STAAR test results are in, analyzed, and ONE DISTRICT stands alone in their success. Wylie ISD “significantly beat the state averages” in 2014. All of Wylie ISD should be proud of these accomplishments. The teachers, administrators and staff are focused, dedicated and driven to student success and the results are proof that the Wylie Way works.

From Sunday’s Dallas Morning News:
“Last week, The News analyzed new data released by the TEA, looking for districts that significantly beat the state averages. For instance, the state’s scores on fifth-grade math went up the equivalent of about one additional correct question over three years. How many districts’ scores went up by roughly two questions better than the state? And which districts had a consistent pattern, showing that modest improvement on more than a few tests?

TEA data includes 551 districts and charter schools in Texas with at least 1,000 students. Only 24 topped the state on at least nine of the 19 tests given consistently over the three years. And only one district with more than 5,000 students is on that list: Wylie, in Collin County.”

In addition, Wylie ISD students boast scores above state and national averages on SAT and ACT college entrance exams. Based on their performance on the PSAT exam, the District annually lists students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. In 2012, Wylie ISD was one of just 12 districts statewide (and just 529 nationwide) to be named to the College Board Advanced Placement Honor Roll.

The Wylie ISD is home to approximately 14,000 students and continues to grow at an average of three percent per year. Students and staff conduct themselves according to “the Wylie Way,” the District’s nationally recognized values and character education program. The district serves Wylie as well as portions of Murphy, Sachse, St. Paul, Lucas and Lavon.
